The Dominican Republic’s growing popularity among travelers is vividly reflected in the increasing number of luxurious properties being developed across the country.

The country’s eastern region, which encompasses Punta Cana, Cap Cana, Bavaro, and La Romana, is set to add 3,000 new rooms to the already remarkable current 46,000.

According to the Association of Hotels and Tourism Projects of the East, by the end of 2023 the eastern region could reach approximately 50,000 hotel rooms.

Now, you might be wondering which specific luxury properties these rooms belong to and when they plan to welcome eager guests.

Well, let’s find out!

Secrets Tides Punta Cana

The stunning 670-room Secrets Tides Punta Cana, which will open its doors this fall,  promises a deluge of world-class amenities.

Some of these include luxurious swim-out suites with beautiful seaside or garden views, eight bars and lounges, pool and beach service, unlimited top-shelf spirits, and 24-hour room and concierge services.

The diverse dining options include six gourmet restaurants serving Mediterranean-Asian fusion, buffet, and Brazilian cuisine.

Plus, guests can relax at the luxurious Secrets Spa by Pevonia and enjoy endless entertainment activities and nighttime events.

Wyndham Alltra Samaná

One of the most anticipated resorts on our list, the 404-room Wyndham Alltra Samaná is now accepting reservations for its December debut.

Located at Las Galenas, at the eastern tip of the Samaná peninsula, this resort is a revamp of the former Grand Paradise Samaná.

With its extensive renovations, Wyndham Alltra Samaná introduces a wide variety of upgrades and amenities, including four pools, a private beach, and 12 dining options.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana & Sunscape Dominicus La Romana

Scheduled to open on January 15, 2024, these two Hyatt properties, developed in collaboration with Be Live Hotels, will add nearly 2,000 rooms to the Sunscape Resorts & Spas Inclusive Collection portfolio.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana, located on Bavaro Beach, promises an unlimited fun experience, quite literally.

The resort’s Unlimited-Fun offerings include not just one but a whopping ten dining options, along with a spa featuring a beach gazebo and so much more.

For those traveling with the family, the resort offers spacious three-bedroom family suites complete with bunk beds, making it the perfect choice for accommodating kids.

Younger guests can enjoy themselves at the Explorer’s Club for Kids or the Core Zone, while grownups will likely find the resort’s casino and disco more appealing.

Situated along Playa Dominicus, Bayahibe, Sunscape Dominicus La Romana not only matches Sunscape Coco’s world-class amenities but also boasts a privileged location with nearby attractions such as Saona Island, Catalina Island, and Altos de Chavón.

Secrets Playa Esmeralda Punta Cana & Dreams Playa Esmeralda

The town of Miches is on its way to becoming the country’s next luxurious all-inclusive hotspot, with two notable projects underway.

Secrets Playa Esmeralda will be exclusively for adults, offering an intimate and relaxed atmosphere, with amenities including eight special international restaurants, several palapas, snack bars, and an exclusive lounge for Preferred Club members.

Of the 1,000 rooms in these projects, 750 will be rooms and suites, and 250 will be exclusive accommodations for Preferred Club guests.

Zemi Miches All-Inclusive Resort

Our list concludes with another significant resort opening in Miches in 2024.

The first all-inclusive Curio Collection by Hilton property in the Dominican Republic, the 502-room all-inclusive resort will feature beautiful beaches and stunning natural surroundings.

Guests can choose from various room types, including swim-up rooms, all featuring a minimalist design inspired by the coastal environment.
