Larimar City & Resort is one of the largest hospitality projects in Punta Cana to date. The undertaking, announced earlier this year, will be built on a hilly location in the neighborhood of Verón, offering expansive views of Punta Cana’s stunning nature, including its white-sand beaches and verdant rainforests.

This week, the U.S.-based hotel company Sonesta announced that it will launch two high-end resorts in the massive complex, each offering a unique approach to luxury hospitality.

According to the firm, the new properties will be called The Royal Sonesta and The James. For now, few details have been released concerning the total number of rooms and amenities both hotels offer. But with a whopping $300 million price tag, travelers can look forward to a comprehensive set of high-end facilities and services.

Located just 25 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport and 15 minutes from the stunning white sands of Bávaro Beach, Larimar City will be accessible from all of Punta Cana’s main hotspots.

The massive resort complex will house massive outdoor pools, a golf course, spas, and sports facilities, among other unique features. According to Clerhp, the Spanish-based construction firm working on the new project, the goal is to provide travelers with all the necessary amenities for a relaxing getaway.

The construction of the new resort area will take several years and be divided into several phases. The first part, which is expected to wrap up by late next year, will see the launching of the first residential units. Meanwhile, work on Larimar City’s massive entertainment facilities will be complete by the end of 2026.

Unlike most Punta Cana resorts, Larimar City doesn’t come with beachside access. But that’s not an issue for guests & residents, who will be able to enjoy over a dozen massive outdoor pools.
