The Dominican Republic is now home to the world’s first-ever Sports Illustrated Resort, set in the beautiful and luxurious Cap Cana, a luxurious area in Punta Cana. The media giant has played a massive part in the sporting culture of the United States over the last 65 years, and it is now following in the footsteps of brands like the Hard Rock, originally a restaurant, in providing some of the world’s best resorts.

The Accommodation

Keeping in line with its beautiful surroundings, the Sports Illustrated Resort in Cap Cana offers four equally attractive options for accommodation. Starting with the reasonably priced ‘studio villa’ suite, which comes with a beautiful living room and a fully equipped kitchen. This entry-level choice doesn’t lack style or comfort and is perfect for couples.

Next are the resorts’ one, two, and three-bedroom Villa options. All three of these villa options come with luxuries such as a private balcony/patio, a fully equipped kitchen, a spacious living room, air conditioning, and access to a private swimming pool. The design of these villas has long been admired in Cap Cana, and their location right on the Cap Cana Marina guarantees beautiful views.

Why Cap Cana?

Cap Cana is one of the most luxurious destinations in the Caribbean, as well as a hub for tourists seeking a sport-fueled and adventurous vacation. This compact destination packs in more than any other in the Dominican Republic. Guests of the Sports Illustrated Resort have access to every kind of watersport imaginable, from luxurious catamaran cruises departing from the Marina right outside the resort to diving and snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters of the local coastline.

Swimming in Cenote

If watersports don’t appeal to you, the fantastic Scape Park provides many action-packed activities, including heart-pounding off-road adventures, cliff-top zip lines, and underwater swimming in clear blue cenotes (lagoons). And for those who enjoy an adventure on two wheels, the local Enduro Park rents both Motocross dirt bikes and Mountain Bikes to enjoy their exciting course, with safety equipment also provided.

But it isn’t only high-octane adventures in Cap Cana; more relaxing activities such as Tennis and horseback riding are locally available. Furthermore, Cap Cana’s proximity to the Punta Espada golf course is another huge draw for visitors. Not only is this course rated as one of the world’s finest by Golf Digest, but it is part of 73-time PGA tour winner Jack Niklaus’s signature collection.

Where To Eat

One of the most difficult aspects of staying at the Sports Illustrated Resort is deciding where to eat. On resort grounds, guests have choices such as top-tier fine dining at the Prime Time restaurant and the amazing Caribbean fusion at Don German, bringing together the finest dishes of Jamaica, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and of course, the Dominican Republic.

Additionally, guests can sample traditional Italian cuisine at Bambino’s Italian Trattoria or relax poolside with delicious fast food and drinks from Fins pool grill. Once guests work their way through the resort’s many dining options, the town of Cap Cana is on the doorstep with fantastic dining experiences to complement the great offerings at the Sports Illustrated Resort. With Japanese, Spanish, and Italian restaurants all a short stroll from the resort.

A Relaxed Nightlife

Cap Cana has a more relaxed nightlife than its vibrant neighbor Punta Cana. On the grounds of the Sports Illustrated Resort, guests can find many bar and lounge options, and there is also a live music stage that provides live music and light entertainment.

For those wishing to test their luck, the Dominic Casino and Lounge Bar are situated next to the resort. This sophisticated venue offers both table games and slot machines, as well as a vibrant lounge club featuring live music performances from a wide variety of acts.

With so many activities, dining options, and entertainment choices in Cap Cana, it’s easy to see why Sports Illustrated chose this area for its first-ever resort, the mixture of luxury and adventure is unbeatable in the Caribbean.
