The massive undertaking will bring big changes to the property, including to its rooms and luxury amenities. Work on the extensive project has already begun and is expected to be complete by 2025, and most of the property will be rebuilt from scratch.

Paradisus Punta Cana is one of Punta Cana’s most famed 4-star resorts. Situated along the shores of Bávaro beach amidst palm trees and tropical nature, Paradisus Punta Cana is known for its stellar tropical setting. The massive resort opened its doors in 1995 and has since then become synonymous with luxury and comfort at affordable prices. With over 650 spacious rooms, the family-friendly resort is the largest of the Paradisus brand in Punta Cana.

Now, in 2023, one of the city’s most iconic resorts is due for a makeover. This week, Meliá Hotels International announced that it has begun a large-scale renovation of the property to bring it up to date and to prepare it for the growing international market. The renovation, valued at over $200 million, is one of the largest to date and will generate over 2000 new jobs over the coming years.

This Is What Travelers Can Expect From The New Paradisus

Paradisus’ costly renovation will transform the resort from the bottom up; from its already excellent rooms to the stunning tropical gardens found throughout the property, Paradisus will see major changes to its layout.

One of the main goals of the project is to add a new touch of luxury across the resort’s 600 rooms. Travelers are increasingly seeking new high-end experiences, and with countless resorts to choose from, Paradisus faces stiff competition. A large chunk of the $200 million renovation will go to updating the resort’s aging rooms, adding new furnishings and modern decor. Once complete, guests can also expect high-end tech in each room, from smart TVs to touchscreen devices.

Paradisus Punta Cana currently offers a range of on-site amenities for guests to enjoy, including its reputed Yhi Spa and invigorating outdoor eco-experiences. However, upon completion, travelers can look forward to even greater levels of luxury and service.

Meliá is working closely with several leading international architecture firms to help create an award-winning hard product. The massive makeover will use intelligent planning and sustainable criteria to create a green and eco-friendly resort with minimal carbon emissions. The goal, executives say, is to preserve the area’s delicate tropical nature and to minimize environmental impact.

According to Álvaro Sans, the main architect behind the project, “the resort will prioritize energy-efficient heating and water systems to achieve carbon neutrality,” he was quoted saying. Meliá is also working closely with a number of reputable landscaping firms to ensure that the renewed property maintains its green credentials.

These Famous Dominican Republic Resorts Are Fully Renovated

Situated on a remote tropical island in Samaná, Cayo Levantado is a luxurious 5-star resort unlike any other, especially after its renovation is finalized later this year. From its unique island setting to the lavish experience it offers guests, Cayo Levantado is a one-of-a-kind resort, and it’s about to get a lot better. The ongoing renovation is expected to help highlight the unique harmony between the property and its surrounding nature and will infuse the resort with cultural and natural elements.
