The Dominican Republic government has just passed law 41-23, declaring the Espaillat Province an eco-touristic and cultural hub. 

The new law, which has been in the making for several months, aims to bolster development in one of the country’s most untouched provinces, all the while contributing to efforts to preserve its delicate nature.

According to lawmakers, the province’s new legal status has two pillars: nature and local culture. With regards to the former, officials will step up efforts to create new nature reserves and national parks, as well as extend existing ones. 

Meanwhile, officials will promote authentic and unique experiences to highlight the province’s vibrant culture in a way that benefits travelers and locals alike.

Why Travelers Are Excited About The New Initiative 

Espaillat is one of the most gorgeous provinces in the Dominican Republic.

To hold that title in a country that is full of breathtaking mountainous scenery and endless white-sand beaches is a massive achievement and an amazing opportunity for adventure-seeking travelers.

Situated just 75 kilometers southeast of Puerto Plata and 30 kilometers from Santiago, Moca is a highly accessible day trip destination.
