Ritz Carlton’s announcement means travelers will have even more lavish choices for their next luxury getaway.

Punta Cana Set To Have Another World-Class Luxury Resort

Ritz Carlton has chosen Punta Cana as the location for two of its newest luxury properties, one of which will be a global first.

The massive project is valued at over $250 million, a significant investment for the sun-soaked resort city and a win for luxury travelers.

According to the initial plans – which are in the early stages of development – Ritz Carlton will build two properties in the Punta Cana-Macao area.

The two projects will add a total of 550 rooms to the city’s repertoire, including 50 residential units.

The first of the two new properties will be a Ritz Carlton Luxury Collection resort, while the second one will belong to the newly-founded All Access brand.

While few details have been released about the new brand, travelers can expect an elevated level of luxury and comfort.

Construction of the massive project is expected to begin in October this year, pending finishing touches to the resort’s design and layout.

Ritz Carlton’s global design team is currently working with award-winning architects to develop the landmark investment.

According to Yamil Isaías, executive vice president of the brand’s construction group, “these are some of the most luxurious brands operated by Marriott, and we’ve received backing from some of the country’s key stakeholders,” the director said in an interview.

The announcement is much-welcomed news for Punta Cana, which is seeing demand soar as a growing number of travelers opt for the tropical location

Moreover, Ritz Carlton’s new properties will be built in the Macao area, situated just north of Punta Cana’s most popular resort districts.

Compared to Bávaro and Cap Cana, two heavily-saturated resort neighborhoods, Macao offers peace of mind and isolation, two essential qualities for any top-notch luxury property.

In addition to adding two new high-end properties to the coastal resort town, Ritz Carlton is also planning a new 50-unit residential development located close to the resorts.

The gated community will also house entertainment facilities, restaurants, and commercial spaces.

While there is no shortage of excellent resort destinations in the Caribbean, Punta Cana will have the honor of having the world’s first All Access property.

With its year-round warm weather and excellent tourism infrastructure (including the best regional airport), Punta Cana has an unbeatable track record.

Infinity pool and sunset in Caribbean

The Dominican Republic and especially Punta Cana stand out as some of the most popular locations for new resorts in the Caribbean.

Indeed, arrival numbers to the sun-soaked island are soaring on average more than anywhere else in the world, and Americans consistently rank Punta Cana as one of their preferred destinations.

Meanwhile, several famous properties are undergoing costly renovations to welcome a growing number of travelers.

One such property is the 5-star Cayo Levantado, an island property unlike anything found in the Dominican Republic.

Cayo Levantado is one of many resorts making the switch to a more sustainable and green approach, opting for environmentally-friendly materials and principles.

Resort destinations like Miches and Pedernales also stand out as some of the leading ecotourism hubs in the Caribbean, with virgin beaches and untouched rainforests.
