According to Carolina Coto, head of Uber’s communications for the Caribbean, Americans, and Canadians are among the most enthusiastic about using the app when vacationing in the Dominican Republic, with places like Santo Domingo and, increasingly, Punta Cana seeing the highest demand for rides.

How Safe Is It?

Uber works across some of the most popular destinations in the Dominican Republic, including in Punta Cana, where it covers all major resort hubs such as Bávaro, Macao, and Cap Cana, as well as popular downtown areas.

Using Uber in Punta Cana is generally very safe, especially compared to taxis. By pre-paying their ride, travelers can avoid overcharging or other types of scams that continue to plague Punta Cana’s taxi industry.

Uber recently launched Uber Select in the Bávaro area, allowing local taxi drivers to use the app to transport more travelers. This means that visitors should be able to catch a ride in no time, especially when booking in advance.

Travelers can request a ride in advance or order one on the go just as they would in any location. As always, a little caution goes a long way, so travelers are urged to check their assigned driver’s profile before confirming.

When it comes to airport transfers, travelers can opt for Uber or a pre-booked private transfer. The latter uses larger vehicles which may come in handy for larger groups or families, although Uber is fantastic for couples or solo traverses.

And with more and more travelers opting to leave their all-inclusive resort to explore local attractions, Uber will undoubtedly be the key to greater mobility for a growing number of visitors.

Punta Cana isn’t the most walkable of locations, and with most attractions distributed across several neighborhoods, Uber is a great alternative to conventional taxis or buses.

This Uber Feature Is Particularly Popular With Travelers

For many travelers, food is one of the highlights of their vacation. Whether it be savoring local delicacies or going for more familiar flavors, food, and travel go hand in hand.

And thanks to Uber, finding your favorite foods in Punta Cana will be easier than ever before.

According to Uber, nearly 120,000 travelers have used Uber Eats to order their favorite meal delivered right to the comfort of their vacation rental or resort.

And as a result, a growing number of restaurants are beginning to offer take-out options, affording travelers great choices and variety.

Not only is Uber Eats a convenient way to quickly fill an empty stomach, but it’s also a safer option than physically walking to a restaurant, especially at night.
