Punta Cana is set to receive a major boost in air traffic this winter as Delta Airlines announces new routes to the coastal destination from key U.S. hubs.
Several North American-based airlines have ramped up frequencies to Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic as well as launched new routes to meet growing travel demand.

Delta Adds New Routes To Punta Cana As Caribbean Destination Grows In Popularity
Punta Cana is one of the trendiest Caribbean destinations this year, with the coastal destination reporting back-to-back records in arrival numbers in 2023.
That trend is only expected to strengthen as the tropical island heads toward the winter season, which sees the lion’s share of all travel movement as visitors flock to Punta Cana’s all-inclusives.
With a record-breaking holiday season on the horizon, airlines are announcing new routes to the Dominican Republic, providing a major boost to the country’s aerial connectivity as well as new options for travelers.

The latest U.S.-based airline to do so is Delta, which is offering an additional 35.000 seats on flights to Caribbean destinations this winter. One of the largest airlines in the world, Delta, plans to increase flights to Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic by a whopping 30% compared to last year.
Delta is adding a daily departure to Punta Cana from Detroit starting December 16th this year, with the route set to operate until May next year. Tickets for the 4-and-a-half-hour flight are currently priced at around $360 one-way in economy, although travelers will have to splurge more for flights around the busy holidays.
Meanwhile, Minneapolis-based travelers are also getting more flights, with Delta announcing a nonstop flight from the midwestern hub to Punta Cana starting November 11th this year.
The U.S. carrier will operate several departures in November and will significantly ramp up frequencies with a daily departure starting December 16th. Delta will operate two nonstop morning departures on Saturdays and Sundays, with flights set to last throughout the busy season.
One-way tickets start at around $450 per person, although travelers can find return flights for as little as $750 in January.
Delta also operates nonstop flights to Punta Cana from its Atlanta, New York, and Boston hubs, making it one of the best options for a comfortable journey to the coastal destination.

Punta Cana is one of the fastest-growing Caribbean destinations, primarily owing to its excellent international connectivity. Recent announcements from airlines like American Airlines as well as several Canadian carriers mean that travelers now have more options for air travel than ever before.

The tropical resort hotspot recently finished a massive renovation of Punta Cana International Airport’s Terminal B, adding seven new jet bridges and a handful of amenities for passengers.
American travelers can currently fly to Punta Cana on most major airlines, with JetBlue and American Airlines operating the lion’s share of all routes, with the latter adding more nonstop flights from Miami, Charlotte, and Dallas this winter.
Meanwhile, Canadian travelers can opt from a range of domestic carriers, including Air Canada and Sunwing Airlines, which will fly to Punta Cana daily this winter from Toronto and Montreal.
