Punta Cana’s hospitality industry is booming as more and more companies announce openings at a record pace.
One of the most noteworthy new properties coming to the city soon is the massive Moon Palace Punta Cana.
The 2000-room resort will open its doors in late 2024 and will be the largest property on the sun-soaked island once it opens.
The resort, owned by Palace Resorts, is just one of many luxury properties opening in Punta Cana.
Construction Of Punta Cana’s New Mega-Resort Under Way
Originally scheduled for opening in 2021, the Moon Palace Punta Cana has faced significant setbacks, first due to local opposition and later Covid-19.
After clearing several obstacles, construction of the mega-resort has finally resumed.
A recent social media post from Constructora Grama, the construction company handling the project, shows that significant progress has been made.
The imposing resort will have 18 stories and will occupy a privileged stretch of land in Costa del Coco, where guests will have direct beach access.
The massive property in which the main building sits will also boast a range of outdoor amenities, including pools, bars, and restaurants.
Moon Palace Punta Cana will be a family-friendly all-inclusive, with everything from dining to 24-hour room service available for guests. The resort brand is known for its excellent on-site entertainment options, offering everything from snorkeling to surfing.

With fun activities for the whole family, the resort will be one of the best in class upon opening.
Although no detailed renders of the resort’s rooms have been released, around 66% of all suites will feature ocean views, while the rest will face the adjacent golf course and gardens.
The new mega-resort is owned by Moon Palace, which operates several luxurious all-inclusive resorts across the Caribbean, including in Cancun. Moon Palace has already updated its website with a wealth of information for travelers, and the company is committed to finishing the construction of the resort on time.
According to executives, “Moon Palace is coming to a brand new destination. We are pleased to welcome guests starting in late 2024 to explore the warm beaches of the Dominican Republic without an all-inclusive, endless entertainment model,” the company said in a statement.
Building a 2000-room resort is no easy feat; the property occupies a large terrain in one of Punta Cana’s most sought-after areas.
Despite facing significant delays due to regulatory issues, Moon Palace was ultimately able to launch the massive project, which is expected to boost Punta Cana’s booming travel industry.
Dominican Republic Sees Construction Boom As Travel Numbers Soar
Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic stand out as one of the fastest-growing destinations in the Caribbean, as evidenced by their soaring arrival figures.
The tropical nations have reported back-to-back tourism records in recent months as airlines announce new flights.
Growing demand is leading to new resort investments across several Dominican destinations.
While many resorts have already opened their doors lately, such as Dreams Flora Punta Cana, others are expected to do so over the coming years.
Travelers are increasingly seeking new destinations to explore outside of Punta Cana’s packed resort areas.
Locations like Miches and Pedernales are welcoming the lion’s share of new long-term investments, with each area projected to have around 10,000 hotel rooms over the coming years.
The country’s capital Santo Domingo is also seeing its fair share of new investments and the city will soon have one of the tallest high rises in the country once the new 22-story Wyndham Grand Torre Everest opens its doors in 2025.
