There is a new zone in the Dominican Republic that is gaining popularity among hotels and resorts and competing against Punta Cana: the Miches Municipality. This tourist spot in the Seibo province is getting great investments and large projects that will develop new infrastructure for visitors and better attractions for visitors.

The development of Miches in the past few years has been impressive. As reported by Dominican portal Online Plus, in the following months, Miches will be having 3,250 new rooms for travelers from new hotels and resorts opening in this area in Punta Cana.

Carlos del Pino, Operations Manager at Original Group —a Mexican hotel group opening international operations for the first time in this location— said: “Miches already has an international well-known hotel brand operating successfully and now we are joining”. Del Pino also added: “From our studies, we estimate that within the next 2 to 3 years, this zone will add from 4,000 to 5,000 new rooms with projects from recognized local and international businesses”.

Miches has been considered the “best well-kept secret” in the Dominican Republic until now when major international hotel chains are setting their eyes on this paradise. Miches offers visitors spectacular beaches, beautiful nature, and now great hotel experiences.

New Resorts About To Open Its Doors In Miches

Original Groups are the owners of the two new Temptation Miches Resorts that will open in Miches in October. These new resorts will attract many international visitors and 70% of the rooms are already booked. The company’s reputation and popularity in top destinations like Cancun are building their success in this new hotspot.

Del Pino has shared more details about the new resorts and said: “What we are looking for from Miches is to make history, attracting our American, Canadian, European, Central American, and South American clients so that they get to know this destination that is poised to make us popular in new markets.”

The new resorts will offer guests 14 room categories, pools, jacuzzis, private beaches, and more luxury. But these aren’t the only new projects in Miches.

The resort Secrets y Dreams Playa Esmeralda is under construction, promoted by the American luxury hotel chain AMRCollection, and will offer travelers 1,000 more suites by 2023.

Viva Wyndham Resorts also bet on Miches and started a new resort project in 2021 that will include 2 hotels and 750 new rooms. This resort will also open in 2023 and will offer family services and adult-only experiences.

And Grupo Puntacana, the Dominican tourism and hotel chain company founded by businessman Frank Rainieri, has also confirmed this year that they will build a new project in the area.

Club Med, the French travel and tourism operator, was the first large international brand to bet on Miches. It currently offers 335 rooms and bungalows and its success since 2020 has been the reason why Miches is becoming an international hotspot now.

The Dominican government has also encouraged foreign and national investments and created a public-private partnership for the development of projects in the area.

The Beauty Of Miches

This beautiful coastal destination is surrounded by hills, palm trees, and fascinating landscapes. Miches has the sea to the north and the mountains to the south had been isolated and ignored for years until new roads were built in 2015 and a new touristic project discovered this paradise.

One of its main attractions is Playa Esmeralda, a virgin beach that will make any traveler fall in love with its pristine water and spectacular sand. Travelers can also visit a touristic wood bridge and the Basilica de la Santísima Cruz. However, Miches’ natural beauty is its most charming feature.
