The announcement comes as Caribbean destinations skyrocket in popularity, with most airlines increasing frequencies to warmer destinations by as much as 30% compared to last year.
Frontier will launch a new non-stop flight from Miami to Santo Domingo starting November 16th this year, a route that the airline will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. The low-cost carrier will add a major boost in connectivity for Miami-based travelers, who can now look forward to greater flexibility and cheaper airfare.
Frontier will operate the new route throughout the peak of the winter season, with flights scheduled until January. Round-trip tickets are currently on sale for as low as $205 in November, although travelers will have to factor in additional services like extra legroom or checked-in luggage.
The leading low-cost airline has also revealed it will begin operating a new non-stop connection from Philadelphia to the Dominican capital starting December 17. Frontier will have three weekly departures for that route, greatly increasing the availability of flights to the historical destination for travelers in the northeastern United States.
According to Frontier, Caribbean destinations like the Dominican Republic are seeing a record number of bookings for the winter season, with many travelers purchasing last-minute deals to secure the remaining availability.
@bonvoyagejackie The Dominican Republic is a great destination for solo travelers! I spent my first week of my solo trip in the capital, Santo Domingo. La Choza Guesthouse was a great place to meet other travelers (I also met up with some people I connected with from some online solo travel groups as well) Overall, I felt very safe walking around the Zona Colonial section of the city during the day and evening as well. #solotraveler #solotravel #solotravelwoman #solofemaletravel #dominicanrepublic #santodomingo #dominicanrepublictravel #visitdominicamrepublic #solotraveltips ♬ Astro Beat – Staysee
In a statement, Daniel Shurz, Frontier’s commercial director, said the following: “We are delighted to expand our non-stop connections across our most important hubs. In addition to new flights to Florida, there will be new services to Mexico and the Dominican Republic,” the executive said.
Frontier also operates an extensive network of direct flights to Punta Cana from several major U.S. airports, including Miami, Tampa, and Orlando.

The oldest city in the Americas, this vibrant metropolis of over three million people is home to nearly 9000 hotel rooms comprising resorts and smaller properties. The city’s old town, Ciudad Colonial, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to an excellent array of well-preserved buildings and monuments.
