New Deluxe Tourist Apartments Opening In Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

The popular Dominican hotel chain Hodelpa has just announced its new tourism project, titled “Xanadu Resort and Residences”. Set to open in March 2023, the project will consist of deluxe apartments that showcase the stunning environment of Playa Dorada’s coastline in Punta Cana. The company made the announcement at an event for travel agents at the Expotourismo 2022 fair, held at the Hodelpa Gran Almirante hotel. The announcement is part of a bigger drive to promote tourism on the northern coast of the Dominican Republic, ahead of what is expected to be a busy summer season.

Xanadu will comprise of twenty 3-story buildings, with ocean or pool-side views. The new apartments are set to have many unique features, including 4 main pools and 7 private pools, as well as on-site bars, gardens, cafes, a gym and an events room. Xanadu Resort will also be situated alongside 300 meters of beach, giving visitors ease of access to sun, surf and sand.

Even the most basic amenities have been upgraded for international travellers: each room will include luxury finishes, such as a water filtration system, high-speed fibre internet, air conditioning units and built-in kitchen appliances.

There will also be English-speaking staff on-site to help visitors get accustomed to their surroundings. There will also be assigned parking and 24-hour security available.

Xanadu is also set to be built just 20 minutes away from Puerto Plata Airport, perfect for travellers who want to explore the northern coast of the Dominican Republic.

The accommodation is also close to Taino Bay Cruise port: after opening in 2018, Taino Bay is now one of the busiest cruise ports in the country as it can disembark up to 14,000 passengers. The Xanadu is therefore an excellent choice for passengers looking to stay on land and continue their adventures in Playa Dorada.

Travellers who enjoy golf will also be pleased to know Xanadu is located just 500 yards away from the Playa Dorada golf club. As a certified PGA-level 18 hole course, Playa Dorada is incredibly popular with international visitors. Staying in an apartment close by is an excellent option to have, as it will ensure travellers don’t have to travel far to enjoy a good game.

The family-friendly attractions of Country World Adventure Park and Ocean World Water Park are also located nearby. Whilst Country World offers vacationers unforgettable excursions (including zip-lining, ATV riding and horseriding), Ocean World offers lovers of the sea the chance to meet dolphins, sharks and other sea life.

At the Expoturismo 2022 fair, the marketing director of Hodelpa, Jessica Aja, highlighted how tourists staying at the Xanadu may be eligible for an offer combining a stay at the apartment complex with a trip to Ocean World Water Park.

With a three-day and two-night package, visitors could be eligible for a discounted trip to the park, which is currently one of the top tourist destinations in the Dominican Republic.

The proximity of the Xanadu accommodation to these popular locations will allow families to take day trips from Puerto Plata seamlessly, all without having to endure endless traffic or long journeys.

All eyes are now on Hodelpa to deliver the highly sought-after accommodation: the hotel chain made its debut in the 1990s through the work of Edumdo Aja and Jose Hernandez. It now has 10 accommodations in Santiago, Santo Domingo, Puerto Plata and Juan Dolio, totalling 1,800 rooms across the properties. The company hopes that the new addition of Xanadu will encourage more international visitors to visit the northern coast of the Dominican Republic for the first time.
