Meliá Renovating Its Flagship Resorts In Punta Cana

The international hotel chain Meliá is currently renovating its flagship resorts in the Dominican Republic. The renovation is part of its wider investment package in Punta Cana, which includes the building of the Caribbean’s first major theme park Katmandu set to open later this year. Scheduled for completion at the end of 2023, the hotel renovation program will offer guests new levels of luxury and comfort.

The leading Spanish hotel firm has launched a massive overhaul of its Punta Cana sites, including its flagship Paradisus hotels. The Paradisus Punta Cana is the company’s first resort in Punta Cana, and it also operates the Paradisus Palma Real, a 5-star luxury hotel. The makeover consists of two new hotels which will replace the original Paradisus Punta Cana. Meanwhile, the Paradisus Palma Real will also undergo changes including upgrading all of its rooms. Valued at over $150 million dollars, the renovation is a major investment for the region’s economy.

Paradisus Punta Cana, the company’s first resort hotel in the region, will be replaced by two newer hotels, one for adults and another family-friendly one. According to Meliá, the area’s existing hotels lack diversity, which the renovation seeks to fix. Moreover, it wants to provide guests with improved entertainment and free-time options. Among the major goals of the program is to provide guests with unique experiences that go beyond the traditional all-inclusive beach resort stay.

According to the company, travelers are increasingly seeking unique experiences, especially in all-inclusive establishments such as Paradisus. The firm’s philosophy is based on providing guests with top-quality and unforgettable stays in total comfort. With the renovation well on its way, Paradisus also wants to improve the hotel’s environmental sustainability and social responsibility.

According to Francisco Camps, the Managing Director of Meliá Hotels International in the Dominican Republic, the ongoing renovations of the Paradisus Palma Real began in early May this year. The overhaul is expected to be complete in late 2023 due to the number and complexity of the renovations.

Álvaro Sans, the architect in charge of the renovation, is using smart design features and a modern approach to carry out the project. Sustainability is a major goal at all stages of the makeover. To make the most of the beautiful natural surroundings in the area, the new hotels will use local landscaping and greenery. In addition, the updated property will feature new water and waste management technology that make it more efficient in conserving resources. As a result, the hotel will lower its greenhouse gas footprint.

Meliá Hotels International has already made great progress in the fight against climate change. It wants to further reduce its carbon emissions by 70% by 2035 and is doing so by using clean and renewable energy.

Punta Cana To Open First Major Theme Park In The Caribbean

Besides the $50 million dollars being spent on the renovation of the Paradisus Palma Real, Meliá is also working with Falcon’s Beyond to build the Caribbean’s first major theme park. Set to open in late 2022, Kathmandu Park is an action-packed theme park offering guests everything from rides to live shows and plenty of shopping.

The park, which is mainly geared towards families, is being built with cutting-edge entertainment and amusement park technology. Based on the success of other internationally renowned theme parks, Kathmandu Park is focusing on offering guests unique attractions unlike anywhere else. Visitors can look forward to an interactive theater ride as well as immersive technologies.
