Just as we thought Punta Cana couldn’t possibly squeeze in more luxury, Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced a major management agreement with Codelpa to develop the Hyatt Ziva Punta Cana.
While the island is currently smashing travel records in 2026, this new project is looking toward the future of the “all-ages” luxury market.
Slated to open its doors in 2029, this newly built resort is being designed as a massive flagship for the Hyatt Ziva brand. Located just 40 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport, it aims to be the ultimate middle ground for families who want the high-end Hyatt experience without sacrificing the “fun factor” for kids and teens.

Here is a breakdown of what we know so far about this upcoming mega-resort and how it fits into Hyatt’s aggressive Caribbean expansion.
The Resort Layout
The scale of this project is significant, even by Dominican Republic standards. The resort will feature 650 rooms designed to accommodate a wide range of travelers.
- Diverse Accommodations: While the resort is strictly “family-friendly,” the design includes a dedicated adults-only building. This allows multi-generational groups to stay together while giving those without kids a quiet sanctuary away from the main splash zones.
- Prime Beachfront: The property will sit on the region’s iconic white-sand beaches, ensuring that the heavy-hitting amenities don’t distract from the natural Caribbean beauty.

The “Everything” Amenity List
Hyatt is clearly moving away from the “quiet pool and a buffet” model. The Hyatt Ziva Punta Cana is being built as a self-contained entertainment hub.
- The Water Features: The resort will boast a massive on-site water park, five separate swimming pools, a dedicated kids’ pool, and a private adults-only pool.
- The Adventure Zone: Beyond the water, families can tackle a ropes course, a rock climbing wall, and a miniature golf course.
- The Entertainment Center: For the first time in a Hyatt property of this scale in the region, the resort will feature a full bowling alley, alongside a Teens’ Club and Kids’ Club offering supervised 24/7 activities.
- Active Lifestyle: Pickleball and tennis courts will be standard, ensuring that “all-inclusive” doesn’t have to mean “all-sedentary.”

Dining and Wellness
The food and beverage program is aiming for “interactive” experiences rather than just standard service.
- Culinary Variety: The resort plans to feature five specialty restaurants, an international buffet, a beach club, a snack bar, a coffee shop, and—the likely favorite for younger guests—an ice cream parlor.
- Wellness Sanctuary: For parents looking to escape the bowling alley noise, the spa will be a massive complex featuring a hammam, a hydrotherapy circuit, a yoga studio, and a dedicated bridal suite for those planning a Caribbean destination wedding.
Hyatt Ziva Expansion
Hyatt’s Dominican Dominance
This announcement isn’t a one-off project; it’s part of a massive play for regional dominance. Hyatt currently manages 34 hotels in the Dominican Republic, accounting for nearly 17,000 rooms.
“Punta Cana remains a thriving destination for our guests and members seeking a family resort experience,” says Antonio Fungairino, Head of Development for Latin America and the Caribbean. “We are committed to expanding our presence to meet these needs.”
With Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana and Secrets Macao Beach also hitting the scene in 2026, the Hyatt Ziva opening in 2029 will serve as the massive, family-focused anchor for a portfolio that covers every possible traveler demographic on the island.
