More and more people are discovering the Dominican Republic’s tropical delights, which can be enjoyed year-round. But in winter, travel to the Caribbean island skyrockets as cold temperatures slowly take over North America. Punta Cana, the island’s main tourist hotspot, is by far the country’s most popular destination, where tourists can find an extensive selection of all-inclusive luxury resorts and award-winning white-sand beaches.
The winter season, which lasts from November until February, is a great time to head to Punta Cana. November, January, and February tend to be the cheapest months for airfare, although travelers can also find good deals for early to mid-December flights. Prices rise steeply during Christmas and New Year dates which budget-conscious travelers should avoid. In this article, we’ve rounded up the cheapest non-stop winter flights to Punta Cana from several large U.S airports.
Miami – Punta Cana
Miami is one of the best airports to travel to the Dominican Republic, thanks to its high frequency of departures. Travelers looking to fly there on a budget can do so in November for just over $250. Ultra-low-cost carrier Spirit is selling return flights to the sunny destination for $260, which depart on Sunday, November 13, and return on Thursday, November 17. Keep in mind travelers will have to pay extra for luggage, food, and other amenities.
A return flight for those same dates with JetBlue will cost travelers $321, but the carrier offers a slightly improved on-board experience with complimentary snacks, entertainment, and a more generous luggage allowance.

Meanwhile, December flights are the cheapest on the 3rd and 10th on Latam Airlines, with respective return flights scheduled for the 10th and 17th, with each trip costing just $253. In January, departure on the 7th with a return on January 14 is priced the same aboard Chile’s flag carrier.
New York – Punta Cana
Several U.S carriers, including JetBlue and American, offer direct flights to the tropical destination from New York’s major airports. Travelers can fly to Punta Cana in late November for just $370. JetBlue offers 4 non-stop flights daily, with the cheapest departure on Saturday, November 26, with a return on Thursday, December 1.
Flights in December are markedly more expensive, but return tickets with a departure in early to mid-December are still relatively affordable, costing some $400 on JetBlue. Return tickets are priced similarly throughout January and February.
Atlanta – Punta Cana
There’s good news for Atlanta-based travelers looking for ultra-cheap airfare to Punta Cana this winter. A non-stop return trip to the tropical destination on Wednesday, November 30, until Wednesday, December 7, is available on Frontier for just $177. Return tickets with Frontier Airlines from early to mid-December are only a bit more expensive, priced at $200. Meanwhile, flights departing on January 13, 18, and 25, with a return flight the following week, are also priced starting at $177.
Philadelphia – Punta Cana
Philadelphia-based travelers will have to dish out more to fly to Punta Cana, as fewer airlines operate direct flights to the sunny destination. Still, travelers can save up by booking on the most affordable dates. The most affordable flights in November depart at the end of the month, with a departure on November 29 and a return on December 7 costing $457 on American Airlines.
A 9-day trip with a departure on December 12 and return on December 21 will set travelers back just $420 with Frontier, but American also flies on those same dates for $595. The cheapest travel dates, however, are found in January, when travelers can hop on a direct return flight for just $281 on Spirit, with a departure on the 11th and a return on the 18th.
