Miches is a relatively undeveloped region situated around 100 kilometers west of Punta Cana. Famous for its miles-long white-sand beaches and lush rainforests, the eco-tourism hotspot is gradually becoming more accessible for mass tourism thanks to new resort investments.
Hyatt has announced that it will build two new luxurious all-inclusive properties in the coastal destination. The massive project will add 750 spacious suites to Miches’ growing inventory, and some much-needed luxury as most properties in the area currently lack the amenities typically found in 5-star resorts.
The new properties will be named Secrets Playa Esmeralda and Dreams Playa Esmeralda. As their names suggest, they’ll be located on the 7-kilometer-long white-sand shore of Esmeralda beach, boasting some impressive views of the sea and surrounding nature.
Hyatt’s newest undertaking will cost over $400 million, representing one of Miches’ largest investments to date. The new undertaking will cater to a range of travelers, from adults and couples to families.
Secrets Playa Esmeralda will be an adults-only property, ideal for couples and honeymooners. The high-end resort will be all-inclusive, offering all the necessary amenities and services for a vacation in paradise. It’ll come with four bars, outdoor pools, and several impressive room categories with stunning ocean views.
Meanwhile, Hyatt’s Dreams Playa Esmeralda will be a family-friendly all-inclusive property with a range of kids-friendly amenities such as the Explorer’s Club – a supervised kids’-only zone where the little ones can have fun while the adults relax elsewhere – as well as a nightclub for teenagers. Of course, the resort will boast outdoor pools, swim-up bars and plenty of restaurants.
Hyatt is also renovating two of its Punta Cana properties, which will begin operating under the Sunscape Resorts & Spas brand. The hospitality giant is currently renovating the Be Live Collective Punta Cana resorts, which will reopen in August under the new brand.
Why Travelers Are Excited About Miches
Miches has been gaining popularity in recent years as an alternative to Punta Cana’s packed resorts are beaches. The seaside resort destination currently houses several properties, including Club Med’s Playa Esmeralda and two adults-only Temptation resorts, although thousands of new rooms are in the making.
Travelers can enjoy some of the most stunning powered white-sand beaches in the Dominican Republic in Miches. The most accessible beach in the area is Playa Arriba, situated just east of downtown. For a more remote experience, visit Playa Esmeralda, which offers a lot of what makes Miches so famous – turquoise waters, palm trees, and untouched nature.
Miches’ small but quaint downtown area is home to a handful of locally-run restaurants, including an asadero with stunning ocean views. The Tourist Pier is ideal for an evening stroll, with several bars and outdoor amenities.
