Meliá, a leading Spanish hotels & resorts chain, is launching a brand new resort brand that will debut in Punta Cana later this year. The project is part of a larger upgrade for its hotels in the area, and also includes the building of the Caribbean’s first-ever theme park. The massive project is divided into several phases, with the first one expected to be complete later this year.
The global hotel company is teaming up with award-winning entertainment company Falcon’s Beyond to bring guests a completely new resort experience. The brand, which will debut with a new resort in Punta Cana, will be called Falcon’s Resorts By Meliá and combines traditional all-inclusive features with world-class entertainment. The goal of the new initiative is to provide visitors with a never-before-seen vacation experience.
Visitors headed to Punta Cana will be the first in the world to try out a new concept, which blends traditional all-inclusive resort flavors with immersive entertainment, shopping options, and some out-of-the-box thinking. The goal, according to the chain’s executive, is to create new a experience-based way of traveling that goes beyond being limited to a resort. Once the new concept has been launched locally, the company hopes to expand it worldwide.
Valued at over 350 million dollars, the new investment package will see several new resorts as well as a massive theme park built in Punta Cana. The collaboration between the two heavyweights will see three different projects built in the popular resort destination. Falcon’s Resorts by Meliá-All Suites Punta Cana is the crown jewel of the new development, which is based on the massive overhaul of the company’s existing properties in the area, including the Paradisus Grand Cana and The Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real.
As part of the new brand, guests at Falcon’s Beyond by Meliá will have direct access to not only excellent resort facilities but also restaurants and new entertainment options, creating a more diverse experience for the whole family. To top it all off, the Caribbean’s first major theme park will offer guests – especially children – an adrenaline rush unlike anywhere else.
The project is divided into several phases. The first part – set to be finished in late 2022 – will see the transformation of the currently-existing Paradisus Grand Cana into a new all-inclusive concept. Meanwhile, the second phase will see an overhaul of The Reserve Paradisus Palma Real, set for completion sometime in 2023.
Falcon’s Beyond – which already operates in some of the world’s leading resort destinations including Orlando – is busy helping launch the Caribbean’s first major theme park, Kathmandu Park-Punta Cana. The new massive park is set to open in December this year and will feature everything from rides to innovative immersive experiences for the whole family.
But that’s not all: A truly complete vacation experience also needs to have some shopping included, and with Falcon’s Central-Punta Cana, guests will find an exclusive commercial, gastronomic, and entertainment facility currently under construction.
According to Gabriel Escarrer, Meliá Hotel International’s chief executive officer, the new undertaking is an opportunity to showcase how cutting-edge technology can be used to improve the holiday experience. Once complete, there will be “elements and immersive entertainment technology creating a groundbreaking vacation experience”.
Meliá is one of the world’s leading hotel and resort companies, with more than 380 properties in 40 countries. In a sector where innovation is important, the new Falcon’s Resorts by Meliá brand will be key in attracting new customers and standing out among the heavy competition. Punta Cana is the Dominican Republic’s prime resort hotspot, featuring some of the country’s top-rated resorts. In fact, Tripadvisor ranks this resort as the best in the whole country, balancing luxury rooms with quality service and oceanfront access.
