The ocean-facing town of Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic is now the most sought-after destination for luxury hotels in the region, after huge investments from American companies.
This comes after the recent addition of the Sanctuary Hotel’s Luxury Collection Cap Cana by the Marriot Group, as recently announced by their partner, Playa Hotels & Resorts.
The Luxury Collection is one of the main luxury brands of the Marriott group, who have hotels and resorts in over 40 countries worldwide. The 325 room hotel includes ‘Sanctuary Town’ – a private nightlife destination reserved for guests at the hotel – alongside five pools, six bars and five restaurants.
Since 2016, the Dominican tourism industry has placed an emphasis on constructing luxury hotels, beach resorts and golf resorts in Cap Cana, due to its stunning location.
Guests visiting Cap Cana will have exclusive access to the stunning natural coastline of Playa Julliano: as one of the longest and most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean, it is no wonder that it is often a favourite for first-time visitors, due to the abundance of palm trees and soft white sand. There are also plenty of bars and eateries to keep travellers satisfied.
Situated directly on this beach is one of the first Dominican hotels from AM Resorts, named Secrets Cap Cana Resort and Spa.
It first opened to visitors in 2016 and boasts several fantastic amenities, including a private beach, a fitness centre and windsurfing equipment. It also has a stunning design, inspired by indigenous Dominican culture.
Guests staying in Cap Cana will also have the option of golfing at “Punta Espada”, ranked as the ‘#1 Best Golf Course in the Caribbean and Mexico’.by GolfWeek, as well as exploring the beautiful nearby marina.
The Los Establos Equestrian Centre is also nearby, offering visitors lessons in Dressage and Jumping. They also provide hospitality services, including a smoking lounge, a family restaurant, and a children’s play area.
Fernando Hazoury, president of the board of directors of Cap Cana, has stated: “This shows that Cap Cana, 20 years after it was founded, has established itself as a luxury hotel destination and as a country brand, contributing one more grain of sand to the solidification of the leadership of the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean”.
Hazoury has also revealed that Cap Cana is a hotspot for North American tourists looking to find a slice of Caribbean paradise without having to travel too far. Multiple American companies have invested in the Hyatt Ziva and Zilara Hotels, Margaritaville and St. Regis Hotels in the region, ensuring that the needs of American travellers will be met when staying in Cap Cana.
The exclusivity of the region is also emphasized by the luxury boutique hotel, Eden Roc Cap Cana, being situated in the area – the only Relaix & Chateaux hotel in the country.
Relais & Chateaux are a French world-renowned luxury hotel and restaurant company, with 580 members in 68 countries.. This only serves to emphasise the prestige, glamour and exclusivity of Cap Cana.
Currently, the expansion of the Cap Cana region is set to continue, as more than 100 million square meters have been reserved for the construction of more hotels, resorts and tourist attractions. Estimates suggest that over 100,000 hotel and residential rooms could be potentially built in the next few decades.
Ease of access to the region is bolstered by the number of flights connecting the U.S with Punta Cana Airport, just a 13-minute drive away. It is clear that this is a must-see destination for travellers looking to pamper themselves with luxurious resorts, stunning ocean views, and relaxing activities.
